I am hoping to raise $3000 through artwork sales to help recover my exhibition costs. After that 50% of profits will be donated to the Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania with the remaining 50% supporting my arts practice.

If bidding on an artwork isn’t possible, a contribution of any amount would be wonderful. Click here to contribute to the exhibition.

Description

How your purchase contributes

I was fortunate to receive a $1000 community grant from the City of Hobart however the total cost of presenting this exhibition is approximately $4000. At a minimum I am hoping that sales of the exhibition artworks will recover these costs.

If the exhibition costs are fully recovered 50% of any profit from artwork sales will be donated to the Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania. The remaining 50% will go to me as the artist with Photo Lutruwita’s commission paid from my share.

If total sales do not exceed exhibition costs no charitable contribution will arise.

Winning bidders may also choose to donate the physical print to the State Archives of Tasmania allowing it to become part of Tasmania’s historic record.

About this print

“Cholpon grew up beside Kyrgyzstan’s mountain-ringed Issyk-Kul surrounded by family tradition and village life. Her journey to Tasmania began with a chance meeting on a flight but love meant three years of separation repeated visa hurdles and uncertainty before she could finally begin a new life here with her daughter.”

Bid to own the actual photographic print displayed at Photo Lutruwita Gallery Brooke Street Pier as part of the Head On Photo Festival 2026 Open Program.

The print will remain on display until the exhibition finishes on 29 November 2026. As an exhibited work it may show minor signs of handling; any known marks or damage will be disclosed before bidding closes.

Thank you for visiting the exhibition and considering a purchase to support my arts practice and Tasmania’s migrant community.
