Contribute to the exhibition costs

I appreciate that these photographs are large, and not everyone has the space to hang one at home. That scale was a deliberate choice. I want the portraits to capture the attention of people passing through the gallery on their way to or from Mona or the eastern shore, encouraging them to stop, look and hopefully engage with Tasmania’s diverse migrant stories.

Using photography to bring greater awareness to migrant stories and the importance of social cohesion has always been the driving purpose of this exhibition and of my involvement in the project as an artist. At the same time, photography is my full-time job, so making projects like this sustainable is important.

If bidding on or purchasing an artwork isn’t possible, a contribution of any amount would be wonderful.

How your financial contribution supports this project, and hopefully Tasmania’s migrant community

I was fortunate to receive a $1,000 community grant from the City of Hobart, however the total cost of presenting this exhibition is approximately $4,000. At a minimum, I am hoping that sales of the exhibition artworks will recover these costs.

If the exhibition costs are fully recovered, 50% of any profit from artwork sales will be donated to the Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania. The remaining 50% will go to me as the artist, with Photo Lutruwita’s commission paid from my share.

If total sales do not exceed the exhibition costs, no charitable contribution will arise.
